I can't remember exactly when BeautyBay released this palette but I do remember that it was sold out for ages before I was actually able to bag it and cart it out. The makeup world as I see it is now distinctly shattered between all-nude ladies and editorial gals and I must admit that I, as always, have still not been able to position myself in one category or the other.

But then again - why should I distort my creative soul to fit it in a box when makeup is one of the most accepted ways for humans to practice art day after day?

I became just a lil' crazy when BeautyBay released the Everything You Need (EYN) eyeshadow palettes and might have bought almost all of them. When I realized the bigger palettes were made up of a lot of the shades contained in the smaller versions, I returned most of them. Kept the Bright Matte 42 though.

As much as I disliked the shimmer shades from BeautyBay - that my demanding self would have hoped more metallic, I loved the mattes at first swatch.

The Bright Matte 42 palette is a success as much in terms of color display and pigmentation and to this day, I still use this palette very often on photoshoots. It is a dream come true for any watercolor lover person as a simple mixing medium can get the eyeshadows waterproof, allowing you to layer the colors.

Everything is in the Bright Matte 42, from the famous black to the transition shades and the brighter yellows that we've all seemed to be craving at some point last year - I am not even going to talk about this year. However, lockdown is soon to finish a little bit everywhere, and hopefully, as life goes back to normal and without any indelicacy on my part, people will want to create on their faces again before going out with friends again.

I am not too sure why you would need another colorful palette if you get the BeautyBay Bright 42. Greed, I would say!
Apart from the darker purples that are always tricky to nail and still perform amazingly considering the price point (£23), the overall quality and possibilities offered by this palette make it a snatch. I cannot wait for the day that a palette catches my heart like this one did, many months ago.

Somehow every time I write a blog, I swear to myself I will keep going and post consistently and this never happens. I think it is more than okay for me to not put pressure on myself anymore in regards to writing from my personal point of view on It's Azami.

Lots have happened since the last time I typed on my keyboard to post here. I am so much more active on Instagram, not only mine but also two other accounts for which I have become Social Media Manager. And to think that back in Paris, I would have had to study for months on end before being granted a diploma that would, at best, have gotten me an internship I would not even have wanted to wake up for in the morning...

I have elected London as my home, my heart now lies here. In the past few months, I have been messing about with all the things I would love to become, and as lost as I have always been concerning my future, my soul set on something painful, yet gratifying: writing. 2020 was a year I did not want to have to live through, as every one of us. However, it brought me clarity of mind.

I finally set myself as a freelancer, not only as a makeup artist but writer and illustrator. Illustrator seems such a big word, for a lady horsing around with digital drawing but I am building a business around my style which I believe unique (but doesn't every person defining themselves as an "artist" ?).

Being a copywriter (writing for brands) and a content writer brings me the pain of not feeling I am enough and the joy of getting income through my art. I never considered writing as a job an option in the past and it kind of dawned on me that I prefer being on my own, working on stroking pens and brushes and keyboards to make people feel what I get excited for.

Many more posts would be required to deliver all the news of the past months. For now, I will simply announce and confirm that It's Azami is back on its feet. It's Not Eyeshadow is merely waiting for me to take it down. It's Azami I was, and I remain.

The feeling of nostalgia is waving at me this evening as I listen to some deep house, summer-reminiscing tracks. What fits best the mood than some shots of one of my last days spent in Paris before moving to London (with my friend Chloe from the IG The Chloe Land - hi cutie, if you're reading this !)?

When I traveled back to Paris a month ago, I just did not feel at home anymore. My person was only tied to the city by memories and language, yet my heart seemed to spill at the sight of the recognizable buildings. My favorite small cafés were still standing on Rue de Montorgueil, nothing had changed.

Feels nice to be back, even just for a minute.
